Roger Waters calls on Chevron to 'do the right thing'

Roger Waters submitted this video message to be played during Chevron's annual shareholder meeting on May 27, 2020. The legendary rock musician and human rights activist called on Chevron's CEO and board of directors to "do the right thing" for the 30,000 indigenous Ecuadorian victims of the company's toxic oil pollution in the Amazon. He also urged the company to stop persecuting human rights lawyer Steven Donziger, who represented the indigenous plaintiffs in a successful class-action lawsuit that resulted in a $9.5 billion judgment against the company. The company has refused to pay its Ecuador liability and has instead personally attacked Donziger.

Waters urged Chevron stockholders to support two shareholder-sponsored proposals on the 2020 proxy filed by Newground Social Investment on behalf of clients.
